Jeff Jarrett comments on WWE's big advertising misstep.
On the May 26 edition of Raw, WWE promoted upcoming Worlds Collide match between Chad Gable and El Hijo Del Vikingo. Notably, the match was advertised as an AAA Mega Championship match, despite the fact that neither Vikingo or Gable currently hold the belt.
Fans quickly put things together, realizing that the advertisement could be a spoiler, as Vikingo is set to challenge Alberto El Patron for the title on May 31.
The decision to spoil the match, intentional or not, has been largely criticized online. On the latest edition of his My World podcast, Jarrett laughed about the situation, saying that WWE doesn't care what is advertised in AAA.
"They don’t give two shits what is advertised in AAA. They’re going to get out the match they want to get out.”
As a part of a larger conversation about corporate-controlled wrestling and how it doesn't work, Jarrett continued on and doubled down on his stance.
“Can you tell me where was the first Worlds Collide? LA, correct? AAA and Konnan and Jake, they sold out Sports Arena with lucha libre fans, AAA fans. I cannot wrap my head around why they are willingly shitting on the core of the Forum show. The core fan base of the Forum show hypothetically is the AAA fan base. Boy this is clearly telling us, yeah, they only bought it for the IP, they don’t care about nothing else. That is a little surprising to me that they’d have such a distain or total lack of — they could care less. I get that, hey man, they have to make the 90 day numbers, period. The quicker they can get Gable, their guy, and Vikingo, their soon-to-be guy, the quicker they can get them advertised, the more awareness.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Jarrett talked about Adam Page's big Owen Hart Foundation Tournament victory. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
